SHOPPING NEWS CARRIER GUIDELINES:
This contract is to be read and signed by both the carrier and parents/guardian. Please read carefully and call me if you have any questions.
- Papers must be delivered between 2:00 pm Tuesday and 7:30 am Wednesday. Leave a paper at each house on your route. If there are apartments on your route please leave half the amount of papers that there are apartments. Never deliver where there is a stop or you have been asked not to deliver.
- The Shopping News should be folded, bagged, and placed on the top step or porch. DO NOT throw papers in the driveway or yard. It is important to keep the paper on the top step. You are an independent contractor so you will be held responsible for any damages. (Snowblowers, etc) NEVER put the Shopping News inside or next to the post office mailbox.
- Do not walk on lawns. Always use plastic bags. Do not throw papers from vehicles.
- If you need a substitute it is very important that you try and find your own replacement. If you are unable to find one please let me know as soon as possible. You are responsible to teach them the route and guidelines before they deliver the route. It is important that you remind them of special needs and stop deliveries. Let me know the name and phone number of your substitute.
- Payday for carriers is every two weeks. The Shopping News uses direct deposit.
- When quitting your route you must give a two week’s notice. This means that you deliver for the next two weeks following the week you give your notice. You must return all equipment and carrier bags before you receive your final pay check. Failure to return equipment will result in your final paycheck being held by the Shopping News
- Do not deliver to unoccupied homes. Please do not let papers pile up. If you see a paper from the previous week, pick it up. Do not leave it there. ONLY ONE SHOPPING NEWS PER YARD!! Take pride in your route. Failure to keep your route clean may result in termination.
