The Palate Patrol was back on duty this week at The Attic Bar & Grill. Genna Terveer, Co-Owner/Operator and Nicole Nelson, Bar Manager made our dining experience so much fun! The 5 of us usually dine close to work, but we discovered we can get to The Attic in just 11 minutes – that’s quick from Western & 50th to Sycamore & 49th! The moral of the story is ... readers, take the trip to the East side of town – it’s so worth it!

Here’s what the Palate Patrol had to say:
Mary Smith: I had the daily special (Meatball Sandwich on toasted French Bread & Chili) which was AWESOME! It sounds spicy, but wasn’t; and the chili was so meaty, just the way I like it. The thing that amazed me was the huge selection on their menu which I understand is going to be changing soon.

John Roesler:  The “Artery Clogger” was my choice, which is a ½ lb. Burger w/cheese, Fried Egg & Peanut Butter & Waffle Fries. It was interesting how that combination made me feel like I was eating breakfast and lunch all at the same time! Growing up on the farm, I learned to clean my plate even though it was a struggle. Rustic interior, Macho Nachos and the “Artery Clogger” get my vote for a great Sioux Falls Guy Hangout – I will go back in November for the Attic’s Moustache Contest and to eat!

Dee Johnson: A Buffalo Chicken Breast on toasted French Bread and a side of Horseradish Mashed Potatoes was my selection for this Palate Patrol outing. I don’t like HOT food, but can’t help myself from ordering it. The Attic’s buffalo sauce is perfect – tasty, but not too hot and spicy. I would have never ordered the potatoes with horseradish, but followed our Server’s advice, and they were the best comfort food ever!

Mark Jacobsen: My order consisted of Chicken Pesto Tortellini, Garlic Bread & a cup of Chili. I was already full because I ate more than my share of the Macho Nachos. My request for a “to-go” box was letting the guys down, but I had to do it! Since my fork was in everyone else’s plate, I’d have to say that all food ordered by the Palate Patrol was excellent!

Scott Worthington:  The Grilled 10 oz. Sirloin Steak, Sauted Vegetables & Horseradish Mashed Potatoes were phenomenal. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare just like I wanted. The hardest part of me eating the meal was Mark and John’s forks reaching for my steak. We all agreed it would be the meal of choice on our next visit. What amazed me is that I didn’t expect to see a hand cut steak like that served, when I expected “bar food”.

Owner, Genna Terveer told us the favorite menu item is their Indian Taco and that their other favorite, Fried Pickles are soon to be a menu feature. Along with the full menu and bar, guests can play Video Lottery, Pool, Darts, etc. On Halloween The Attic is giving away $500 – don’t miss the contest!

Sounds like this was a unanimous “Thumbs Up” from the Palate Patrol. You never know where we will show up – look for us again in two weeks with more dining information. In closing, we’d like to share this…. “Did you hear about the new Restaurant on the Moon? Great food but no atmosphere!” Not the case at the Attic – atmosphere is everything.
